Abigail Divoll Obituary: A 25-year-old Woman and a 7-year-old child died as a result of an ATV Accident in New England

Two individuals from Massachusetts tragically lost their lives in separate small-vehicle accidents over the weekend in New England. One of the incidents involved Abigail Divoll, a 25-year-old resident of Royalston, Mass., who was involved in an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) crash in northern Maine. The Maine Warden Service reported that the accident occurred on Saturday afternoon, just before 1 p.m., near Quill Hill Road in Coplin Plantation. Abigail Divoll and Matthew Tolman, a 26-year-old resident of Hubbardston, Mass., were riding the ATV together when they hit a washout on the trail, causing them to lose control.

Unfortunately, Abigail Divoll did not survive the crash, while Matthew Tolman was thrown from the ATV and transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland with a serious head injury. It was noted that neither Abigail Divoll nor Matthew Tolman were wearing helmets, and the Maine Warden Service indicated that speed and alcohol might have played a role in the accident.

It is indeed a heart-wrenching loss for the families and communities involved. Abigail Divoll's passing on July 1, 2023, was publicly announced by the Mack Family Funeral Homes - Fiske-Murphy & Mack Chapel in Orange, MA. In another tragic incident on the same day, a 7-year-old boy from Pepperell, Mass., lost his life in a crash involving a crossover utility vehicle (UTV) in Vermont. The Vermont State Police reported that the accident occurred around 7 p.m. on Lost Mile Road in Newfane, a town approximately 20 minutes north of Brattleboro. The driver, Matthew Conlon, a 40-year-old resident of Pepperell, was operating a John Deere Gator with six people on board, including five children. While navigating a curve in the road, Conlon lost control, causing the UTV to overturn and resulting in injuries to several passengers. The 7-year-old boy, whose identity was not disclosed by the authorities, was taken to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital but was pronounced dead later. The investigation into the crash is ongoing, but the Vermont State Police stated that they do not believe impairment was a factor in the driver’s actions.
