He explained that it took a lot of work and significant lifestyle changes before he was able to shed so much weight. He shared that he’s now 150 pounds lighter than his peak weight and that he’s still working hard to keep up with his new figure.

He began his weight loss journey by consulting a dietitian and taking a series of supplements to support his health goals. He figured that the most important part of losing weight was making good choices in his daily life. Gardell started to eat smaller meals and cut out junk food completely. He also started walking more and focusing on his mental health. The 53-year-old star says that his resting heart rate dropped from 113 to 68 and that his diabetes is now “gone” thanks to the healthy lifestyle changes he’s made.

Then, he took things to the next level by choosing to undergo gastric bypass surgery. He admits that he “chickened out from doing it like twice” but that after learning that his diabetes was causing him serious health problems, he knew it was time to pull the trigger.

In addition to his surgery, he teamed up with a nutritionist and fitness trainer who helped him get on track. Gardell reveals that he now “floats between 205 [lbs] and 210” but is “stuck around the 205 mark.”

He’s not only feeling better physically, but he’s also seeing improvements in his acting. He says that he feels like a different person because of his weight loss journey and that anyone can do it. He just has to have the drive and stick with it.
