Brooks Koepka Surgery
Brooks Koepka has enjoyed a long and varied career on the golf course. He has experienced both great success and disappointment throughout his career, but this year he has found himself at a point where his future is in question.
He has been injured numerous times and has spent a significant amount of time in the hospital over the past few years. But in recent weeks he has been showing signs that his injury issues are behind him and that he is ready to go on and do what he does best: win.
The PGA Championship is on the horizon and a win could give Koepka another major title, which would be his fifth. The four-time major winner is currently ranked 12th in the world and has not played since February when he won the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
This is a huge change for Koepka, who has been on the rise and been considered a top player in the game. He is a two-time US Open champion and has won four PGA Tour events in the past three years.
It’s a very good sign that he is playing well at the PGA Championship this week, considering he has not been able to play since March due to his knee injury. This is a huge boost to his confidence and it will only strengthen his determination to get back on track at the Masters.
As for what he has to do to make this happen, Koepka said his goal is to get back to the Masters and play as good as he can. He is hoping to get back into the swing of things after missing the cut at the Masters last year and failing to make the cut in the Byron Nelson event last week.
He has not played in the Masters since he had surgery to repair his left knee cap in September 2019. He re-aggravated that injury while competing in South Korea in October and had to withdraw from the Presidents Cup.
His surgeon said it was a miracle that he was able to compete in the Masters at all, given how bad his knee looked before the surgery.
The surgeon who reconstructed his knee in March, Daniel Wahn, told ESPN that it was “a great story” to see him on the course after his operation. He said it was a joy to watch the four-time major champion compete.
Brooks Koepka’s knee was “in great shape” when he was on the practice range this week, according to his trainer Matt Wahl. He said Koepka was a bit stiff but otherwise in a good mood and seemed to be feeling much better than when he was injured.
While this is a positive sign, it will not be easy for the former World No. 1 to maintain his momentum in the coming months. He has a few tournaments to play before the Masters, including the Houston Open.
He will also need to be healthy for the LIV season finale, in two weeks at Trump Doral. Then he will be looking to get his career back on track and return to his zenith, which included winning five majors in the last three years.
