Carl Hamman Obituary: A Life Celebrated and Remembered with Love

Carl Eugene Hamman, 92, of Springfield, passed away on July 13, 2022. He was born in Mansfield, Ohio to Albert and Esther (Maul) Hamman. He married the love of his life, Joan, in 1955. They raised two children, Carol Wilfret and Michael Hamman. He was a proud and loving grandfather to 14 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. He was also a fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes men’s and women’s teams and enjoyed researching his family genealogy.

He was a member of St. Ambrose Anglican Church in Yearley and a retired farmer. He was an avid fisherman, camper and hunter. He loved to be out in the woods with his dogs. He also enjoyed playing cards and attending family gatherings. He was very devoted to his family and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his children, Bryan and Lynette Hamman of Greenwich, Eric and Gale Hamman of South Jordan, Utah, Emily and Jon Binder of Overland Park, Kansas; grandchildren, Sarah and Matt Reffel, Rachel and Jacob Bush, Hannah and Mike Stybel, Jackie Binder, Andrew Binder, Margot Hamman, and Emmett Hamman; great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Quinn, Adaline, Piper, Hudson, Colin, and Mason; sister, Sandy Rucker; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Esther (Maul) Hamman; and siblings, Betty Mortz, Charles Hamman, and twin sister, Carol Sweet.

 Visitation will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2022, until the time of the funeral at 12 p.m. with Pastor Doug Lang officiating at Eastman Funeral Home, 49 West Main Street, Greenwich. Military burial will take place at a later date at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Seville, Ohio. Online condolences may be shared at www.eastmanfuneralhome.com.

I knew Carl when he worked for Sarah Moore. he was a delightful person to see and visit when you entered the home and was very helpful to residents and visitors.
