When a dog has bladder growths or polyps, the irritated areas can cause blood in the urine and urination frequency problems. This condition is known as polypoid cystitis. The patient is treated with antibiotics and special diet to prevent the growths from recurring.

However, it can still be a challenging diagnosis to diagnose because the symptoms may appear and disappear without any underlying problem. Emma’s condition was causing her pain and discomfort. Tests on her urine showed blood, bacteria and crystals.

The veterinarian suggested an ultrasound of the bladder to find out what was causing her symptoms. The ultrasound did not show any uroliths but it did show some changes in the bladder wall that were suspected to be growths or polyps.
