John Plunkett Obituary: Veteran and Owner of Dublin House Pub

“Jack” John Plunkett, a veteran of the U.S. Navy and longtime owner of the Dublin House Pub in Largo, passed away on March 31, 2023, at the age of 80. His presence in the community and his commitment to his business will be dearly missed. He is survived by his loving wife, Lynn, and three nephews, Sean, Colin, and Brian Plunkett, residing in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Jack Plunkett served his country with honor as a member of the U.S. Navy. After completing his military service, he embarked on a new journey as an entrepreneur, dedicating 38 years of his life to owning and operating the beloved Dublin House Pub in Largo. Throughout the years, Jack created a welcoming and vibrant establishment where friends and strangers alike could come together to enjoy good company, delicious food, and a lively atmosphere.

Beyond his role as a business owner, Jack was known for his warm and friendly personality. He had a genuine passion for connecting with people and building meaningful relationships within the community. Whether it was sharing stories with regular patrons at the pub or lending a helping hand to those in need, Jack’s kindness and generosity left a lasting impression on those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

In his free time, Jack enjoyed spending quality time with his wife, Lynn, and exploring new adventures together. They created countless cherished memories throughout their journey, and their love and companionship were an inspiration to all who witnessed their bond.

I always loved that. I could step away from the bar and sit and talk with Jack for a bit and have an honest conversation. Definitely was a great guy! My heart goes out to Lynn and everybody else that knew him as a friend.
