Joshua Daniel Carter Obituary: Virginia Mourns the Loss of a Beloved Individual

Josh Lee Carter, also known as Josh, was a beloved resident of West Liberty, Iowa. He was born on September 29, 1981, in Papillion, Nebraska, to his parents Dale Carter and LuAnn Helm. Tragically, he passed away on March 18, 2023, at the age of 41, leaving the community devastated.

Josh graduated from West Liberty High School in 2000. Throughout his life, he cherished spending time with his family and friends, especially engaging in activities like camping and gathering around bonfires. He had a passion for playing darts, cornhole, and hunting for mushrooms. As an avid Hawkeye supporter, he was always enthusiastic about his favorite team. Above all, Josh treasured the moments he spent with his children, Ryan and Kilee, more than anything else.

He is survived by his parents, Dale (Patty) Carter Jr. of Wichita, Kansas, and LuAnn (Mike Sr.) Helm of Tipton, Iowa. Josh is also survived by his sister, Becky (Aaron) Weaver of Wilton, Iowa, and step-brother, Mike Helm Jr. of West Liberty, Iowa. Additionally, he leaves behind nieces and nephews: Calib, Johnathan, and Halie Lilly; Zander and Jensen Weaver; and Wyat, Izac, and Faye Helm. Josh was also blessed with a large extended family, including his aunt Kay Methany of Tipton, Iowa, as well as Cathi Evans of Oxford, Iowa, Dennis Evans of Anamosa, Iowa, and Jackie Ambrose of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Josh was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Dale Carter Sr. and JoAnn Johnson, his maternal grandparents, Robert Rockwell and Walter and LeAnna Evans, and aunts Christine Belau, Michelle Mason, and Ann Boyd. The memory of Josh will forever remain in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him.

A visitation was held on Friday, March 24, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Henderson Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty, followed by a funeral ceremony at 1 p.m. The community was invited to express their condolences through the website www.hendersonbarkerfuneralhome.com. Josh’s untimely passing has undoubtedly created a void in the lives of his family, friends, and the entire West Liberty community.
