Who is Roger Thurgood?
Roger was born on February 18, 1965, in Provo, Utah, to Ronald Dee Thurgood and Jacklyn Kay Cox. After his parents’ divorce, his mother married John Hinckley, and Roger, along with his three brothers, one sister, and numerous cousins, was raised on the Hinckley Farm in west Provo. Those days on the farm held some of Roger’s most cherished memories.
Roger’s educational journey led him to Provo High School, where he actively participated in the Future Farmers of America (FFA) and the South Utah County Rodeo Club. His passion for rodeo and adventurous spirit paved the way for many memorable experiences.
Roger’s zest for life knew no bounds. He enjoyed outdoor activities, such as horseback riding, waterfowl hunting, and collecting unique rocks. His love for music, reading, comic books, and video games added further layers to his vibrant personality. A true adventurer at heart, he always sought the next big thrill.
Roger Thurgood Family and Friendships
Roger’s warm and charismatic nature endeared him to everyone he met, and he had an uncanny ability to befriend anyone. He was known for his captivating storytelling and his championing of the underdog. His belief in supporting others was instilled in his own children, whom he adored dearly.
Roger found his soulmate, Kathleen Holt, and they were married on January 18, 1988. Together, they raised two children, Tucker Dee Thurgood and Tyree Caroline Baird, who brought immense joy to their lives. His grandchildren, Dallas, Hagen, Harper, and Berkley, were his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
While a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Roger appreciated attending various churches and shared a profound love for his savior, Jesus Christ. His genuine care and support extended to the community, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of those he interacted with.
Roger Thurgood Obituary and Funeral Service
Roger Thurgood’s untimely departure leaves a void in the hearts of many. A visitation will be held at the LDS Church on 381 East 400 North, Spanish Fork, Utah, on Friday evening, July 28, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Another visitation will be held on Saturday morning, July 29, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Walker Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
As family, friends, and the community come together to bid farewell to Roger Thurgood, his spirit will live on through the memories he created and the stories he shared. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
