Seth Poling Obituary: WV, Buckhannon Died from ALS Disease Causing His Death
Buckhannon, WV – In a display of community support, the Band of Brothers, a local Christian men’s group, is organizing a barbecue chicken dinner fundraiser on Saturday, October 30th, to benefit Seth Poling. Seth, who suffers from ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, requires assistance with medical expenses and hopes to make Christmas a comfortable time for his family. The Band of Brothers aims to further God’s kingdom on earth by supporting individuals in need within the community.
For $12, participants will receive a half-barbecued chicken, a baked potato, baked beans, and a couple of cookies. To secure a dinner, individuals are encouraged to pre-order by emailing Alan Tucker at [email protected], responding to the Facebook post about the sale, or sending a message on Facebook Messenger. Checks made payable to the Band of Brothers, with “Seth” written in the memo line, can be mailed to Al Tucker at 98 West Lincoln Ave., Buckhannon, WV 26201. The meals will be available for pickup behind Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, accessed via Hart Street.
The Band of Brothers has already received overwhelming support from the community, with approximately 122 chicken dinners already claimed. The funds raised from this event will directly benefit Seth and his family, alleviating the substantial financial burden that comes with ALS. Additionally, the Band of Brothers aims to assist underprivileged children during the holiday season. Collaborating with local organizations and community members, they hope to bring some Christmas joy to those who fall through the safety net.
Seth Poling, a member of an outstanding local family, has made significant contributions to the community over the years. The Band of Brothers seeks to support Seth and his family during this challenging time. A generous local company has graciously covered the cost of the food for the fundraiser, ensuring that every penny received will go directly to Seth’s fund. For those unable to attend the dinner, donations can be made by sending a check to one of the Band of Brothers members or directly to Mary Alice Poling at 46 Saratoga Drive, Buckhannon, WV. The community’s generosity has been exceptional, demonstrating the care and compassion of the people of Buckhannon.
In addition to the barbecue dinner, a separate fundraiser called “Sack Lunches for Seth” is currently accepting orders until October 25th. These sack lunches, priced at $10 each, offer a choice between a baked ham-and-cheese or a turkey-and-cheese sandwich with condiments, accompanied by a pickle, a bag of plain Mister Bee potato chips, and a homemade cookie from Fish Hawk Acres. Orders of five or more lunches qualify for delivery, and the lunches will be available for pickup or delivery on Thursday, November 4th.
To order a sack lunch or make a donation, individuals can contact Mary Alice Poling at 304-406-2909 or through Facebook. The funds raised from the sack lunch sale will contribute to Seth’s round-the-clock aides and cover medical expenses and equipment not covered by insurance. Despite the challenges Seth faces, the unwavering support from the Buckhannon community has been truly heartening.
