Sheryl Underwood Weight Loss: Inspiring Transformation and Wellness Journey
Getting to your goal weight is one of the best feelings in life. It’s even more special when you can share that achievement with your loved ones. That’s exactly what happened for The Talk co-host Sheryl Underwood. The TV personality, who celebrated her 59th birthday on Friday, opened up about her inspiring 95-pound weight loss journey in an emotional video she shared with fans.
During her appearance on The Talk, Sheryl showed off her slim new figure in a purple knee-length wrap dress accentuated with her small waist. She also wore red heels, crossed her legs, and smiled big as she walked onto the set with her co-hosts Akbar Gbaja-Biamila, Natalie Morales, and Amanda Kloots. She explains to the audience that she’s never worn a dress on the show before, and it’s an accomplishment that means a lot to her.
Sheryl’s transformation started when she weighed between 230 and 250 pounds. At the time, she had prediabetes and hypertension. She tried a variety of diet and exercise options, including taking supplements like Metamucil, but she wasn’t seeing results. She even considered undergoing gastric bypass surgery, but her doctor advised against it. She eventually found success with weekly Wegovy injections that suppress her appetite, along with changes to her lifestyle.
Wegovy is an FDA-approved prescription weight loss medication that’s used to help adults lose up to 30 pounds per month. Sheryl also eats healthy, working with a personal trainer and dietician. But she admits that it’s been tough at times. She reveals that she used to feel “guilty” eating cake and drinking wine, but now she enjoys a quality of life with some important adjustments. She eats cakes and wine, but just small pieces or bites of each, and she makes sure to drink water with her rose.
It’s clear that Sheryl is incredibly happy with her new body, but she’s not done yet. She tells PEOPLE that she’s hoping to lose 15 to 20 more pounds. She’s also working with a therapist to learn how to cope with her depression. Sheryl’s 59th birthday was a celebration of her incredible journey, and it appears as though she is well on her way to reaching her next goal. Keep up the great work, Sheryl!
