The Holderness Family Controversy
Kim and Penn Holderness, the American internet famous family, are known for creating family-centered parodies, skits, and vlogs. They have over 5 million subscribers and over 1 billion views on their combined YouTube and Facebook channels.
They have made appearances on UPTV, The Food Network’s The 12 Foods of Christmas, and The C.W. Anderson Show’s The Greatest Holiday Video Countdown.
Xmas Jammies
In 2013, a video called “Xmas Jammies” made a viral splash. In it, a North Carolina family raps about their year, including their love of matching green and red pajamas.
They were not the first to do it, but they are the most likely to have paved the way for the coordinated PJ craze. It may seem odd, but the donning of matching pajamas for all family members has become a holiday tradition, and it’s one that seems to have caught on with retail.
Target sells a wide variety of family-friendly pj sets. They’re available in sizes for men, women, children and babies.
This year, the retailer is offering a range of camping-themed pjs for the whole family. The set includes footies for the little ones and pants for parents, plus matching shirts with prints of camping gnomes. It’s a cute way to get your whole family in the spirit before bedtime. And it’s sure to get lots of Instagram snaps!
New Normal in Quarantine
The new normal in quarantine is taking shape. As COVID-19’s acute phase fades, social distancing protocols are being adopted and travel resumes.
Among these changes is Singapore’s decision to open its borders to more countries for quarantine-free travel as the city-state seeks to rebuild its status as an international aviation hub. This will allow fully vaccinated people to enter the country without being put into quarantine.
This new normal is going to have serious impacts on our everyday lives. It will impact education, tourism and hospitality, food production, entertainment and more.
It’s going to be a long and difficult ride. But it’s also a necessary one. It’s going to force us to adjust, adapt and find ways to cope.
Gimme Six Feet (Physical Distancing Remix)
The holderness family have made quite the name for themselves in the world of viral parodies, skits and vlogs. Penn and Kim have amassed over 5 million subscribers to their YouTube channel and a bevy of fans on Facebook.
They’ve starred in a few viral hit videos over the years and are well-known for their totally relatable parenting oriented content. Their latest video focuses on the importance of keeping 6 feet of distance between yourself and others in public places to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The song was produced by the holdernesses and is a collaboration with UNC Health.
The holderesses have been around since 2013 and are known for their Xmas Jammies parodies, which was a fun and unique way to get their message across. They also launched a podcast in 2018 that deals with lighter-hearted topics like mental health. The company has been mentioned on The Today Show, Good Morning America, Fox & Friends, H.L.N., CNN and C.B.S. and has even been featured on Right This Minute several times.
Baby It’s Cold Outside
The holiday season has always been a time for reexamination, and one of the most debated topics this year is the 1944 Christmas classic “Baby It’s Cold Outside.”
This song was written by Frank Loesser and has become a staple in the holiday rotation. It has even been covered by artists like Lady Gaga and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
But what many listeners may not realize is that this light and flirty duet has a much darker side. As Vox’s Emily Crockett explains, the lyrics are not just about the man who wants his date to stay over.
Rather, the song is about a creepy man attempting to manipulate his date into sexual activity. This perspective is more prevalent than ever, thanks to the rise of the #MeToo movement. This has led to radio stations across the country banning the song or re-introducing it.
