Toby Keith Health
After announcing his stomach cancer diagnosis in June, country music superstar Toby Keith has taken some time off from performing. But it seems like he’s ready to get back on the road once again.
In a recent interview, Toby Keith opened up about his health situation and said that his battle with stomach cancer is “pretty debilitating.”
The singer explained that it took him six months to receive treatment from chemo, radiation, and surgery. He also told his fans that he’s thankful for all the love and support from them. He added that he’ll see them’sooner rather than later’ and ‘can’t wait’ to get back on stage.
He continued to explain that he had to take some time away from his career to focus on his health and to rest. He also thanked his friends and family for their support, saying that they’ll all be there to help him out as he recovers from his treatment.
It’s important to note that this isn’t the first time Toby Keith has undergone treatment for a health issue. Back in 2021, he was diagnosed with gastric cancer and received treatment for it.
Toby Keith’s Cancer: What You Need to Know
Stomach cancer isn’t common in the United States, but it can be deadly if not treated. It usually originates in cells of the stomach’s mucosa, or inner lining. The most common type of stomach cancer is adenocarcinoma, which can be treated with targeted drug therapy. However, other types of stomach cancer are more difficult to treat and have a poorer prognosis.
Surgical oncologist Ramon Emilio Jimenez, M.D., of Miami Cancer Institute in Florida, told Resource editors that there’s no way to know whether Keith’s cancer is early or advanced at this point. He explained that there are two main types of stomach cancer: * The more-common intestinal type, which has a better prognosis and is easier to treat with targeted drugs.
* The less-common diffuse type, which has a worse prognosis and tends to spread more quickly.
While it’s unlikely that Keith will be able to return to his touring schedule soon, he’s slowly getting back into the swing of things. Recently, he gave an impromptu performance at Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse in Lexington, Kentucky, singing hits like “I Love This Bar” and “Sweet Home Alabama.” The restaurant’s owner shared an image from the event on social media.
On Giving Tuesday, Toby Keith posted a sweet photo with a young cancer patient, thanking his supporters for their donations to the Toby Keith Foundation. The organization was founded in 2006 to help children with cancer.
