Richard Worthington Green, affectionately known as Worth, found eternal comfort in the embrace of Jesus, peacefully passing away at the age of 36 on Thursday, June 8, 2023.
Worth, born in Asheville, NC, was the beloved eldest child of Richard C. “Rick” and Leslie Dark Green. He lovingly embraced his role as an older brother to Catie Green King and Taylor Ann Green.
Having graduated from Sunhawk Academy in 2005, Worth humorously referred to it as his “Bad Boy Camp” and later completed his studies at East Carolina University in 2009.
Worth’s vibrant and outgoing personality was an inspiration to all, as he exemplified a life lived to the fullest. His charisma allowed him to forge connections effortlessly, leaving no stranger untouched by his warmth and kindness.
Immersed in the culture of South Korea after college, Worth’s passion for travel was ignited. He ventured to Ireland with his friends, indulging in his newfound love for golf and creating cherished memories.
The tranquil shores of Lake James held a special place in Worth’s heart, serving as a backdrop for countless joyous gatherings with loved ones and etching unforgettable memories in their hearts.
Driven by a quest for deeper meaning and spiritual growth, Worth founded a small men’s group in Raleigh. Together, they embarked on a journey of introspection, challenging their faith and contemplating the mysteries of life.
Worth’s love for his family knew no bounds, and he cherished every opportunity to be in their presence. He served as a devoted and caring son, grandson, and an unwavering pillar of support for his beloved sisters.
Caroline, the woman who captured Worth’s heart, brought immense joy into his life. He adored her deeply and eagerly envisioned a future where they would create lasting memories together.
The loss of Worth’s exuberant zest for life will be keenly felt by a vast network of friends whose lives were touched by his infectious love and passion.
In addition to his parents, Rick and Leslie, Worth is survived by his paternal grandmother, Catherine Sellars Green of Burlington, and his maternal grandparents, Ralph Marshall Dark, Jr., and Barbara Worthington Dark of Marion. Worth’s paternal grandfather, Hubert Baxter Green, preceded him in death, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love.
To honor Worth’s memory, a heartfelt Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for Saturday, June 17, 2023, at 3:00 pm. The service will take place at Nebo Crossing Church, located at 263 Barnes Road, Marion, NC 28752.
Prior to the service, from 1:00 pm to 2:45 pm, the family welcomes friends to join them in reminiscing.
