Zander Smith General Hospital

General Hospital has a history of bringing people back from the dead. It’s a pretty common trend on the soap opera, which is why many fans were excited to learn that Chad Brannon will be returning as Zander Smith for a one-episode stint this December.

The former actor is known for playing Zander Smith on GH from 2000 to 2004, and he won a Daytime Emmy award for his role in 2004. He has since starred in a number of television shows, including Friday Night Lights and Cold Case.

He has also lent his voice to the video game, Lost Odyssey and he appeared in several documentary films.

What’s more, he is known for his roles in other television programs and films.

Chad Brannon, who is a native of Arizona, started his career in the entertainment industry by guest-starring on shows such as JAG, Malcolm in the Middle, MTV Undressed and Days of Our Lives before landing a lead role on ABC’s General Hospital in 2000. He quickly rose to fame on the show, receiving a Soap Opera Digest award for Outstanding Male Newcomer in 2001 and a Daytime Emmy win in 2004 for his role as Zander Smith.

His character was a troubled young man, and by the time he died in a shootout in March of 2004, he had a dark past that included drug abuse and his brother’s death. When his estranged father, Cameron Lewis (Emily Sweat), showed up in Port Charles, Zander started to have flashbacks of his brother’s death and began using drugs again.

Eventually, he worked for Ned Ashton at ELQ, but his past caught up with him when he got involved with Luis Alcazar and lost his memory for a while. He also found himself in jail for trashing Jake’s bar, which he attributed to his past.

Then, he had to deal with his fiancee, Emily Quartermaine (Natalia Livingston), who had breast cancer and was pushing him away to avoid having to watch her die. When she was reunited with Zander, they married on what they believed to be her death bed but he soon realized that she was only trying to make him jealous and the marriage fell apart.

After he became pregnant with Elizabeth’s son, Zander and Liz reconciled and he agreed to raise the child but his obsession with Sonny soon put them at odds again. He also had to deal with Ric’s constant obsession and he was later divorced when he was unable to keep up the pressure.

But then he got his chance at happiness when he met Rebecca Shaw, the twin of Emily’s late love, whom he resembled. She and Zander became romantically linked, and they even had a one-night stand before Rebecca flew off to Paris.

What’s more, Brannon has a history with the show, having also made a one-episode appearance in 2009 as Aaron, a lookalike for Zander. It isn’t clear what the actor will do in his comeback to GH, but fans of the show can expect a reunion with Brannon at some point in the near future.
