Zane Breakiron Obituary and Morgantown Police Cause Of Death

MORGANTOWN, West Virginia (WDTV) — Morgantown Police Department officers are mourning the death of one of their own. According to a statement, Patrol Officer First Class and K-9 handler Zane Breakiron was killed in a single-vehicle accident while off duty sometime late Friday night or early Saturday morning. He was nearing his seventh year with the police department.

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation. Friends and colleagues of Officer Breakiron have taken to social media to pay their respects, with many expressing their shock and sadness over his sudden passing. The Officer’s kindness towards everyone he encountered and his dedication to the community will be missed by all who knew him.

In a Facebook post, Breakiron’s father thanked the public for their support. He also said his son was a “very caring and loving person who always put others before himself.” The family has requested that donations be made to the WV Law Enforcement Police K-9 Fund in lieu of flowers.

Breakiron was born and raised in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. He was a graduate of Shrub High School, where he was part of the track team. He attended the University of Tennessee, where he received a bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology. He also studied at the University of Florida, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Family, Youth, and Community Sciences.

After graduating from college, he joined the Morgantown Police Department. There, he became an excellent member of the force and served the community with honor and dignity. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also loved traveling.

Officer Breakiron was an outstanding member of the Morgantown Police Department, and his unexpected death has left a void that will be challenging to fill. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.
